Four Vanderhoffs. Seventy-five years of brick.
Vanderhoff Masonry Restoration, Inc. is still run from York Street. We take commercial elevations, historic facades, and multi-unit courtyards — not patio kits.
Our origins
A restoration house, not a tuckpointing flyer
Anton Vanderhoff opened the shop in 1951 after apprentice years on Chicago greystones. His son Carl took the commercial accounts in the 1970s. Today Carl’s daughter Helen writes the scopes and still initials every mortar recipe.
We grind to sound mortar, match by sand color and joint profile, and cite the facade ordinance when a building needs it. Lime for pre-war brick. Portland blends only where the original joint demands it.
Most weeks we are on a church, a two-flat courtyard, or a downtown Elmhurst storefront. . Certificates of insurance go out with the bid.
